PortOps

REMOTE INTERMODAL OPERATIONS SPECIALISTS

Your next operations hire already knows what an LFD is.

Starts on Pacific time, inside your systems, with no ramp spent explaining a chassis split.

By 9 p.m. the only person still booking appointments is you.

The container moves on the terminal's clock, not on yours.

  1. 05:40Availability across four terminal portals, before the first driver rolls.
  2. 08:15Two appointments canceled overnight. Rebook, or the day collapses.
  3. 11:30A chassis split turns a one hour move into three.
  4. 18:45Empty return cutoff. The one you miss becomes per diem.
  5. 21:20You start booking tomorrow, because nobody else will.

Nobody invoices you for the hour you spent at nine.

So you think about hiring.

  • Weeks to find a coordinator, months before they know your terminals.
  • When they leave, you start over.
  • A general assistant does not know what an LFD is, so you watch it anyway.

What the specialist takes over

  • Appointment booking

    Booking, rebooking, retry history
  • Last Free Day watch

    LFD, cutoffs, empty return windows
  • Driver coordination

    Daily moves, chassis included
  • Chassis and equipment

    Splits, pools, availability
  • Per diem and demurrage

    Disputes filed and tracked
  • Terminal portals and fees

eModal, PierPass, TMF, Clean Truck Fund

How we build the person before you meet them

Three phases. The first two are finished before you are asked to decide anything.

Sourced from
Freight, customs, logistics
Intermodal curriculum
Assigned to
Your SOPs, your terminals, your customers
  1. Recruit

Candidates come from freight, customs and logistics. Most do not pass.

  2. Train

Every specialist runs our intermodal curriculum:

    • The container lifecycle, end to end
    • LFD, per diem and demurrage
    • Chassis pools and splits
    • Empty returns and cutoffs
    • Live practice inside eModal, PierPass, TMF and Clean Truck Fund

Tested on scenarios, not on slides.

  3. Integrate and manage

    • Week one: your SOPs, your terminals, your customers.
    • Week two: they run alongside your team and document every exception.
    • Week three: the work is theirs, with a daily brief and a named escalation path.

The desk this came from

The curriculum is not theory. It is written from the work.

  • 5+

    years

running intermodal operations at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach

  • Up to 80

    drivers

coordinated in a single peak season day

  • 50+

    container moves

    dispatched and closed per day

The operating experience of the team that writes the curriculum. Our own numbers, not client results.

Two ways to run the specialist

Same recruiting, same training, same tools. The difference is who runs the day.

Which one fits you

Pick the line that sounds like your week.

You manage

Your specialist takes direction from your dispatcher.

  • You set the daily priorities and the standard.
  • We handle recruiting, training, coverage and replacement.
  • Escalations come to you.

We manage

Your specialist reports to a PortOps supervisor who works to your SOPs.

  • We set the daily plan and hold the standard.
  • We cover absences, retrain and replace, with no search on your side.
  • You get a daily brief, an exception log, and one named contact.

You can start under one model and move to the other.

Three levels. One monthly rate.

No hourly minimums. No per ticket billing. You know the number before the month starts.

  • Operations Assistant

    $900 per month

Tracking, portal checks, document handling and status updates.

  • MOST COMMON START

    Operations Coordinator

    $1,500 per month

Adds appointment booking and rebooking, LFD watch, and per diem disputes filed with evidence.

  • Dedicated Operations Specialist

    $2,000 to $2,500 per month

A senior operator who owns the container lifecycle end to end, and handles exceptions unprompted.

Levels describe seniority and scope, not hours sold. These are starting rates.

The comparison is not another agency. It is what one in house coordinator costs you, loaded, before they know your terminals.

Before you book the call

  • What happens if the person is not a fit?

We replace them. The replacement arrives already trained on your SOPs, because we keep the handover file from day one.

  • How is this different from an agency?

An agency hands you a resume and invoices you. We train on the intermodal curriculum before anyone is placed, and stay responsible for how the person performs.

  • Do I have to give them access to my systems?

Yes, at the level you decide. Most clients start with read access to their TMS and terminal portals.

  • Where do the specialists work from?

Remotely, on a fixed daily block of Pacific time, agreed before day one.

  • How fast can someone start?

Ask on the call. We would rather give you a real date than a range we cannot hold.

  • What if I only need peak season coverage?

Say so on the call. Levels and coverage windows are scoped per engagement.

Tell us what is eating your day.

Bring one week of your appointment history and your last per diem invoice. We will tell you which level covers it.

  1. 01ConsultationYou walk us through the week. We map what comes off your desk.
  2. 02CandidatesYou review the specialists trained for your scope, interview, and pick.
  3. 03StartWe connect the tools, run the first week alongside your team, then hand you the daily brief.
